The Mental Health Advancement Foundation (MHAF) Board is composed of dedicated professionals and advocates who are passionate about improving mental health access and support in the community. Each member brings unique expertise and a deep commitment to the Foundation’s mission.

Meet the Board Members:

  • Dr. Shawna Munson, Executive Director
    As a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist-Supervisor (LMFT-S), Dr. Munson has been working in the counseling field for over 15 years. Her leadership and clinical expertise guide MHAF’s initiatives, ensuring that individuals and families receive the support they need.

  • Kelly Rice, Director
    With 25 years of experience in the counseling field, Kelly Rice is an LPC-S and a former school counselor. Her background in both private practice and school-based counseling provides valuable insight into the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and families.

  • Maddison Kellum, Secretary
    Maddison has four years of experience working with children and families affected by abuse and neglect. She is deeply passionate about expanding access to mental health care, particularly for families in Deep East Texas, and plays a key role in MHAF’s outreach and advocacy efforts.

  • Keirrah Ramirez, Treasurer
    Growing up with an understanding of the importance of mental health, Keirrah has dedicated herself to learning more about the field’s impact on individuals and families. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology & Criminal Justice, she brings fresh perspectives and financial stewardship to the organization.

Together, the MHAF Board Members are committed to breaking barriers to mental health care, advocating for community resources, and ensuring that individuals and families receive the support and services they need to thrive.
